Not every asylum seeker receives the same documents, so you may not have all or any of these. It is important to keep your immigration documents in a safe place. You can also take photos or make copies of them. And you can use Google translate to translate text or websites.

Notice to Appear

Paper ordering you to go to immigration court at a certain time and location, with info on why the US government thinks you are deportable.

Notice to Report

Paper with your personal information, immigration history including arrest and detention, and fingerprints.

Parole Document 1: Card I-94

Paper with a stamp showing that you were granted parole, the type of parole, and when it expires. Includes your admission number, name, date of birth, and nationality.

Parole Document 2: Paper I-94

Paper titled Form I-94, Arrival-Departure Record, with a stamp showing that you were granted parole, the date it was granted, and when it expires.

Parole Document 3: Online I-94

Printout from CBP website of your most recent I-94, showing class of admission as DT, which means that you received parole. Includes expiration date.

Parole Document 4: Interim Notice Authorizing Parole

Letter confirming that you received parole, including info on how long it is valid, the terms you need to comply with, and the date it was granted.

Form I-220A Order of Release on Recognizance

ICE Form I-220A showing that you are being released from detention, and the terms you must comply with, such as regular ICE check-ins.

Credible Fear Interview Worksheet (CFI)

ICE Check-In Log

ICE form with notes about your check-ins with ICE. Includes your personal information, photo, and fingerprint.

Hearing Notice

Immigration court letter about your next hearing, with the date, time, and location. Gives info on legal representation, address changes, and if you fail to appear.

USCIS Asylum Application Receipt Notice

USCIS Defensive Asylum Application Receipt Notice

USCIS notice confirming receipt of your defensive asylum application, which was originally submitted to immigration court. Includes receipt number.

USCIS Online Account Access Notice

USCIS notice with instructions to access your online account. Includes your receipt number and online access code to use when logging on.

Respondent Access Portal Notice

Immigration court notice with instructions on registering for the Respondent Access Portal to view your immigration case documents online.

Biometrics Appointment Notice

USCIS letter scheduling a biometrics (fingerprinting) appointment. Includes date, time, and place of the appointment, and how to reschedule if needed.

Asylum Interview Notice

USCIS letter scheduling an asylum interview, including the date, time, and address. At the bottom there is a box to reschedule the appointment.

Work Permit Receipt Notice (By Mail)

USCIS letter confirming receipt of your work permit application. Includes receipt number, date received, and info about automatic extensions of work authorization.

Work Permit Receipt Notice (Online)

USCIS letter confirming receipt of your work permit application. Includes receipt number, date received, and info about automatic extensions of work authorization.

Request for Evidence

USCIS letter requesting more evidence to process your application. It includes the receipt number, your A number, and the deadline for your response.

Work Permit Approval Notice

USCIS letter approving your work permit. It includes your A number and your work permit category (C08 for pending asylum application).

BIA Receipt Notice

Board of Immigration Appeals letter confirming receipt of your appeal and giving instructions on how to submit future documents.

BIA Briefing Schedule

Notice About CHNV Parole Termination

Letter informing you that your CHNV parole will be terminated and telling you to return your work permit to USCIS. Includes info on what happens if you do not leave the US.

Notice Ending CBP One Parole

Letter terminating your parole and asking you to leave the U.S. It lists consequences of not leaving the U.S., like fines and criminal prosecution.

Letter Dismissing USCIS Asylum Case

USCIS letter dismissing your asylum application because you are in expedited removal and will be put in the credible fear screening process.
