Around October 2026, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) began sending this notice to many immigrants, including asylum seekers. The subject line says “FBI Privacy Requirements for Biometrics Collection by USCIS.”
If you receive this letter, you do not need to take any action. The notice explains that USCIS is participating in a new program with the FBI to check for changes in people's criminal records. For this reason, USCIS is required to send this notice to inform people that it is using their information this way.
